Xiaomi, like many other smartphone manufacturers, maintains an “end of support list” page where they disclose the devices that will no longer receive software and security upgrades. Recently, Xiaomi updated this list, adding ten more devices to it, which means that owners of these phones will no longer receive Android updates or security patches.
No more support for these 10 Xiaomi phones
If you happen to own any of the following Xiaomi devices, it has been confirmed that you will no longer receive Android upgrades:
- Redmi Note 9 (ID)
- Redmi 9 (CN)
- Redmi 9A (GLOBAL)
- Redmi 10X 4G (CN)
- Redmi Note 9 (GLOBAL)
- Redmi Note 9 (EEA)
- Redmi 10X Pro (CN)
- Redmi K30i 5G (CN)
- POCO F2 Pro (GLOBAL).
However, if you own one of the aforementioned devices and wish to explore a new Android operating system, there’s no need to rush out and purchase a new phone. Instead, you can opt to install a custom ROM on your Xiaomi device. Keep in mind, though, that flashing custom ROMs onto your phone is not a straightforward process and requires technical expertise.
In summary, Xiaomi has updated its “end of support list” page to include ten additional phones that will no longer receive software and security upgrades. Owners of these devices can consider installing custom ROMs as an alternative to experience new Android OS versions. Remember, flashing custom ROMs should be approached with caution and undertaken by those familiar with the process.
