Xiaomi will be having a special event in India couple of hours from now, where it will be launching the Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro. Xiaomi also confirm the previous report we brought to you, that the Note 5 is just a reformed Redmi 5 Plus with 6-inch display and onboard Snapdragon 625 chipset.
The Redmi Note 5 is a replica of Redmi 5 Plus – Check our review here. It measures 158.5 x 75.5 x 8.1 mm , weighing 180g and will be available in 3/32GB and 4/64GB memory configuration. You will be able to choose from Champagne Gold, Rose Gold, Blue, and Black color variants.
The only surprise is seen in the Redmi Note 5 Pro, which will be debuting with Snapdragon 636 chipset, with dual camera arrangement at the back like that of iPhone X. The front facing camera is equipped with massive 20MP sensor.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro will sport a 5.99-inch FullHD+ display panel, protected with 2.5D glass. For the processor, it has an Octa Core CPU, clocked at the frequency of 1.8GHz with Adreno 506GPU for better graphics performance.
The Redmi 5 Pro will run MIUI 9 onboard Android Nougat out of box. It will be available in colors of Blue, Rose Gold, Champagne Gold and Black colors. The RAM/ROM will range from 3GB/32GB, 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB.
Coming to the camera department, it will be a dual senor 12MP + 5MP. The main camera features f/2.2 aperture, 1.25 μm pixel size, while the sun sensor for making bokeh effect has f/2.0 aperture lens, 1.2 μm pixel size. The front camera received a major boost with 20MP Sony IMX376, coupled with LED light.
The fingerprint scanner still remains at it’s normal position, secured below the camera arrangement, the volume and the power button is place at the right side frame. There is 4000mAh battery, but very disappointing it will be charged using Micro USB cable.
The only thing that Xiaomi has left in the dark is the pricing, but we hope to ascertain that at the event in India tomorrow- 14.
