Latest update: Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus gets MIUI NEGCNFI stable

Xiaomi has started pushing out a new update to Redmi 5 Plus. The new update is a major one, weighing about 608MB and its coming with a version number MIUI NEGCNFI stable, after over three months since the last update.

Unfortunately, the Android version after upgrading is still on 7.1.2 Nougat, which is not encouraging considering the fact that another device has started receiving Android Pie. We hope that the next update will bring the Oreo update, but then we have to wait and see.

The update is mainly focusing on improving system performance and Bug fixes. It also brings the facial unlock features, so Redmi 5 Plus now has two mean of biometric authentication. App icon has been redesigned and now looks more appealing than what was offered by MIUI 9. Also, the notification panel is now better with operations now even smoother. You can now reply messages direct from the notification panel with opening the app. 

The selfie camera can now make depth effect on your shots when the feature is turned on. Also, many beauty enchantments are now available to add more beauty to your selfie shot. Above all, the pictures have greatly improved as the camera now offers more decent shots.


In-line with the main idea of MIUI 10, which is basically an artificial intelligence (AI), there’s a new app in the setting named “Mi AI”. The app helps you manage how you interact with your device using voice command. Mi AI given the permission learns the pattern of actions with your device to deliver improved performance.

The MIUI NEGCNFI stable, however, is hitting Redmi 5 Plus still running the official Chinese ROM. The device was unveiled with 5.99-inch 18:9 aspect ratio panel, powered by power efficient Snapdragon 625. It’s paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, expandable via Micro SD. There’s 4000mAh battery that charges through Micro USB port that delivers power that propels the device.

Meanwhile, if you have got a prompt notification for the MIUI NEGCNFI stable update, navigate to setting>>>my device and scan for the update. It might take some time before arriving, so be patient if after scanning and didn’t get a new update.
