Xiaomi released the Redmi 9 last week in Spain with a starting price of $157. The device is currently on pre-sale, and you can take that opportunity to grab the phone for $149 instead. At that price, many consumers believe the phone is pricey compared to the predecessor, but the Redmi 9 specs is a better phone.

However, a more affordable Xiaomi Redmi 9 phone just passed Thai NBTC certification. The device has a model number M2006C3LG, and it’s believed to be the Redmi 9A.

The Redmi 9A has also obtained the FCC certification, which revealed some of the specs. From the listing, the device will run the latest MIUI 12 custom skin outside-of-the-box based on Android 10. It will support dual SIM cards and Wi-Fi network speed at 2.4GHz.

Also, the Redmi 9A has a non-removable 4900mAh battery and will support up to 10W fast charging. It’s a 4G LTE network phone, which measures 164mm in height and 77mm in width. The display measures 175mm diagonally to hint at a display of over 6.5-inches.

Other reports suggest a single rear camera of 13MP and a front 5MP snapper. Under the hood is a MediaTek G25 Octa-Core processor with a maximum speed of 2GHz paired with up to 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. There’s a dedicated expansion slot that can house up to 512GB microSD card.

Unfortunately, these specs are yet to be confirmed, so we advise you to take them with a pinch of salt. However, since the device has obtained NBTC, EEC, and IMDA certifications, it means the launch of the more affordable Xiaomi Redmi 9 phone is imminent. As such, we expect to see the company release official renders and teasers of the upcoming Redmi 9A, which will probably confirm some of the specs and the possible launch date.
