Xiaomi released the Redmi Note 8 last year in August, running Android 9 based on MIUI 11. As such, the device is eligible for Android 10 and MIUI 12, but that’s taking ages to arrive, given that Note 8 Pro and Redmi 8 have received Android 10, at least. But based on the recent development, it looks like Android 10 for Redmi Note 8 and MIUI 12 will start arriving soon.
When Xiaomi released the list of its phone that will participate in the MIUI 12 Beta testing, it didn’t include the Redmi Note 8 on the basis that the device is testing Android 10. Last month, the first MIUI 12 beta update was released for the device, and as expected, Android 10 has been integrated into the firmware. But due to some issues, the update was pulled, and a fresh was released earlier this month – MIUI 12.20.7.3.
Now a new MIUI 12 beta for the Redmi Note 8 is available. It has a build number, MIUI 12.20.7.16, and is based on Android 10. If you’re a member of the Beta Team, you should check for the update via the system or download it from the source link.
As for when the Android 10 for Redmi Note 8 will be released for everyone, we expect it to be towards the tail of this month. Also, the update will likely arrive as part of the MIUI 12, but considering the events of the past, it won’t be surprising seeing Android 10 for Redmi Note 8 arrive with MIUI 11. However, we will update this post if there’s a new development.
