There have been complaints from users about their phones heating up and thereby consuming more power. Of course, that’s coupled with other problems being faced by Mi fans that seem to increase after a new update. Xiaomi has since acknowledged some of these issues and promised to resolve them. The company acknowledged that they haven’t focused on stability for some time but promised to improve this year. And in a way to resolve the problems faced by its consumers, a Pioneer Group was set up to work with fans to fix these problems they experience.

Balanced and Performance modes

The group, which is situated in China, promised to start with overheating issues and has made some progress. Apparently, they started with flagship phones by introducing what is called ‘Balance and Performance modes.’ The former will consume less battery compared to the latter, which will see the device a bit warmer. It arrived on Xiaomi Mi 11 initially, but it’s now being integrated into the MIUI Security app. The last closed beta update brought that for a handful of devices, and has now seen some adjustments.

Going by reports, the latest closed beta update adds balance and performance mode to the battery saver layout. You can easily set your preferred mode using a slider, which is commendable. However, looking at the screenshot above, there seem to be three modes in total: Power, Balanced, and Performance. Out of the three, the ‘Power’ mode will consume less power, although the choice of word is a bit weird.

Unfortunately, the Balanced and Performance mode is available for select phones in the Chinese branch of MIUI. It’s a possible MIUI 13 feature, and we expect it to arrive on a global model with the next iteration of MIUI. Nevertheless, you can download the latest security app via the link below and see if that works for you.
