[Update: August 20] Global Redmi Note 9 MIUI 12.5 update released

Xiaomi has released the global Redmi Note 9 MIUI 12.5 update. That was highly anticipated after the update started seeding for the Indian users a couple of days ago. They’re slightly different builds as the Indian version brought Android 11 along while the Global rollout is seeding with features of MIUI 12.5. That’s because the global Redmi Note 9 has already received Android 11, and it’s now time to upgrade to the latest iteration of MIUI. However, the rollout is a stable beta release, meaning it would take some time before it gets to everyone.

The global Redmi Note 9 MIUI 12.5 update is seeding with a version number – MIUI 12.5.1.0 RJOMIXM – and weighs in at about 823MB. As expected, it introduced the features of MIUI 12.5 to improve performance and stability. It also improved security by bumping the Android security patch level to July 2021. Aside from optimization and security improvement, few apps have been revamped to give them a new look, like the Note App. Also, it becomes possible after upgrading to MIUI 12.5 to uninstall some system apps. 

To check for the Global Redmi Note 9 MIUI 12.5 update, head over to the Updater App. You can as well use the links below to download the ROM, but only if you have an authorized Mi Beta account or TWRP recovery installed. Otherwise, we recommend that you wait for the stable rollout, which should arrive on your device in the coming days. The long wait is finally over as the Redmi Note 9 units in Europe starts pushing the stable MIUI 12.5 update. That’s quite on time before the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition gets to global model.
