Xiaomi MIUI Android skin has some fascinating features that we’re yet to start taking full advantage of. Despite the fact, the company keeps introducing new ones with every closed beta release. Of course, they also enhance performance and address bugs while improving already existing features. With the recent Closed beta update, the Xiaomi MIUI One-handed mode has gained support for a full-screen gesture control.
The MIUI One-handed mode comes pre-installed with most Xiaomi phones. It allows users to shrink the screen to 4.5 inches, 4.0 inches, or 3.5 inches, depending on their preference. However, with the mode of activation, the function doesn’t work well on full-screen gestures, but that has now changed with the current closed beta build.
According to a report, one of the latest beta updates shows Xiaomi MIUI One-handed mode will support gesture control on Android 12. That’s now surprising, given that Google has been working on the feature for some time. It seems to be part of the new Android OS, expected to arrive in early October.
With MIUI 12.5 V21.9.18, Xiaomi phones running Android 12 can activate One-handed mode on full-screen gesture control. Before now, you would need the control buttons enabled to use the feature, but that has changed for few people. Perhaps, the company is testing the feature and will probably expand it to more users in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, we don’t know if Android 12 is a requirement for the One-handed mode to work on gestures, but we hope to find out soon.
That said, we will keep an eye on the deployment and see if Android 11-based Xiaomi phones will get the function working on full-screen gestures. And whether the global stable ROM users will get this feature remains to be seen, although we’re optimistic.
