The Xiaomi MIUI Android skin remains one of the most sophisticated custom ROMs out there. It has some fascinating features, but even at that, the company keeps adding new ones with every closed beta release. Recently it was detected in the MIUI firmware that Xiaomi is working on new and optimized Automated tasks. That has been released to the Chinese users with the recent closed beta build. Interestingly, it seems the update also brings what’s called “front camera assistant.”
Xiaomi is preparing for the presentation of the MIUI 13, expected to arrive towards the end of the year. As usual, before the launch of each iteration of MIUI, some features are rolled out to closed beta testers in China for testing. That’s the case of the new feature rolling out to the closed beta group in China. And with the current closed beta build with a version number – MIUI12.5.V21.10.28, it’s now possible to make video calls in total darkness and preset automated tasks.
The new and optimized automated tasks and front camera assistant has been integrated into the latest version of the MIUI Security app. Unfortunately, it seems only those running the Chinese ROM get the new functions working after installing the current version of the MIUI Security app. Nevertheless, we expect Xiaomi to release the function to stable ROM users in the coming days, and hopefully, the global ROM users will get it as well.
However, given how Xiaomi treats its global users, we might see the new and optimized Automated Tasks with MIUI 13. Also, the front camera assistant feature might arrive as well. That said, we will be keeping an eye on the development to update this space with new information.
