The Redmi Note 8 is among the most popular Xiaomi phones ever. It was the company’s best-selling phone in 2020/2021, which elicited a 2021 version. Xiaomi released the initial version in 2019, running Android 9 on top of MIUI 10. Of course, the device has since been upgraded to Android 10, with Android 11 arriving a couple of months ago with MIUI 12.5. That’s only for some regions, as few units are still waiting for the MIUI 12.5 update and the Enhanced version. Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 8 MIUI 13 update has been confirmed, meaning the device will get the update.
Xiaomi will officially announce MIUI 13 on December 28, alongside the Xiaomi 12 series phones. The company executives are already releasing a teaser, and we expect to see a stable version of MIUI 13 after release. Until now, it was unclear whether the Redmi Note 8 MIUI 13 update will be released, but given the recent report, the device will get the update.
According to Xiaomiui, Redmi Note 8 MIUI 13 update is under internal testing. It’s unclear when it will be released nor when it will come to global models, but we know a few things. The update will be based on Android 11, and it will start seeding in Q2 2022. Also, it makes the Redmi Note 8T and Mi CC9E eligible for the upcoming MIUI update as all phones have the same development.
Meanwhile, recall that Redmi Note 8, Redmi Note 8 Pro, Mi 9, Mi 9SE, among others, stopped receiving closed beta builds. That created doubt about whether they’ll receive MIUI 13, but since the build is been tested for the Redmi Note 8, all the other phones will receive the MIUI 13 update.
