Google releases security patches to Android OS every month, usually starts rolling on the first Monday of each month. The April 2022 security patch update for Google Pixel phones is rolling out now, while some OEMs released the update to their flagship phones last week. The update has addressed Android security vulnerabilities for third-party phones and bugs affecting Pixel devices.
According to the April 2022 Android security patch bulletin, the April 2022 security patch update has two different patch levels, each focusing on a particular fix. The patch level dated 2022-04-01 came with fixes relating to security issues on Android devices, while the 2022-04-01 patch level has seven security patches for the Android framework marked as high. Also, Media Framework has two patches, three for the system, while Project Mainline components have two fixes.
Perhaps, since there is no mention of ‘Dirty Pipe’ Security Vulnerabilities that allow the software to overwrite data in read-only files, it means the current update didn’t address it. We understand that Samsung Galaxy S22 and Google Pixel 6 have been exploited for temporary root access.
