Here’s the crux of the matter: Samsung has released the March 2022 security patch for Galaxy Note 9 in the US, starting with the unlocked version of the device.
This is quite surprising because the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 was released August 2018, and the Korean brand had ended the software update support for the Galaxy S9 and S9+ counterparts which were released the same year.
This software package is for both the unlocked and carrier-locked variants of the Note 9. The update comes with a firmware version N960U1UES9FVC2 for the unlocked version in the US and is available on most networks like Verizon, AT&T, Xfinity, Comcast, Sprint and Mobile.
However, the update for the carrier-locked is not available yet. The carrier-locked variant bears the firmware version N960USQS9FVC5. As at April 7 2022, the Spring and T-Mobile had partaken in the update. So, it wouldn’t be long before other carriers get the package.
Though this isn’t the newest of the security patches available as the April SMR(security maintenance release) has gotten to some Pixel and Samsung devices, it’s still fair for Samsung to provide a fairly current security patch for the Note 9.
This March security patch fixes over 50 vulnerabilities on the Samsung device and improves stability and security of the system. Furthermore, it prevents bugs and viruses and also enhances the user’s experience.
Even if the Note 9 was released 4 years ago, its amazing specs still label the note 9 as a valued phone in 2022. The device was launched with an Android 8.1 Oreo, with built-in 512GB storage and a wide 8GB RAM storage, not to mention the 12MP dual camera and 8MP front camera it houses.
Sadly, it is predicted that this device, powered by the amazing Snapdragon Octa-core processor, might not be receiving any other software update support after September 2022. However, Samsung gifted the Android 9 pie and Android 10 OS update after the debut of the device.
