Samsung has been doing a good job in rolling out updates and of course the April SMR to Galaxy devices. Though quite early, the Samsung Galaxy Galaxy Tab S8 May security patch is available when we haven’t even entered the month of May.
The last April security patch was packed with a whole lot of fixes. It claims to fix 88 vulnerabilities which should include bug fixes, prevention from exploits, improved stability, and better overall performance on your handset. The April SMR has rolled out on all flagship devices, talking about Samsung Galaxy S22, S21, and also non-flagship A series as well as the Folds and Notes too.
Details of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 May security patch
This Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 May security patch packs a storage space of about 500MB, bumps the old security patch level and improves the overall performance of the device. The WiFi variants of the Galaxy Tab S8 series bear the firmware version Xx00XXU2AVD6 while the 5G variants bear versions Xx06NKOU2AVD6 for the Korean models and then Xx06BXXU2AVD6 for the others. We still expect the May security patch to roll out on other Galaxy devices in the coming days.
If you’re rocking the Samsung galaxy tab 8, then you should keep an eye out for the update. Your device will however notify you when it is available, but you can check manually by navigating to the settings app then software update, and then download and install. Furthermore, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 May security patch cannot be downgraded after the installation as a result of the new build incrementing the underlying bootloader version from 1 to 2.
