Qualcomm, one of the leading chipset makers, has talked about launching the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 plus which is going to bear a few additions to the normal version. The premium chip officially arrived yesterday alongside the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SOC

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 has been one processor that isn’t a flagship but houses a few amazing capabilities. The 4-nanometer processor supports 5G connectivity and it’s a successor to the Snapdragon 778G which was launched last year. Even if it is considered a mid-range processor compared to the flagship lineup, it brings in some significant performance improvements. Let’s get into the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SOC.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SOC

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SOC is made up of an octa-core processor. It is packed with an octa-core Kryo CPU comprising one cortex A710 prime core clocked at 2.4GHz, three cortex-A710 performance cores clocked at 2.36GHz as well as four cortex-A510 efficiency cores clocked at 1.8Hz.

Speaking of GPU, as usual, you get an Adreno GPU with an efficient CPU. While Qualcomm promises a 20 percent increase in graphics performance, we still expect more details about the GPU. Adding to all these, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is said to house a feature of the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 which is Qualcomm’s 7th Gen AI engine.

Some other impressive notables on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SOC are a dedicated trust management engine, Bluetooth 5.3 support, Wi-Fi 6E, and Qualcomm’s Spectra Triple 14-bit image signal processor to mention a few. According to Qualcomm, we expect the mid-range chipset to debut on some Honor, Xiaomi and even Oppo phones by next month. Like the Snapdragon 778G, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is a good chip with amazing qualities for the price.
