Different rumours about the Sony IMX800 54 MP resolution camera sensor have been surfacing online and it is said that it is going to feature on a few flagship devices. One of them being a flagship from the Honor series.
Details of the Sony IMX800 54 MP resolution camera sensor
The Sony IMX800 is seen in the Honor 70 series and it uses the 54MP resolution and sources say even more. It’s specifically 8768×6144px and it supports 4 to 1 pixel binning which is quite impressive because some 54 MP camera sensors default to 13.5 or even 12 MP.
Speaking of the size, the Sony IMX800 54 MP resolution camera sensor is a 1/1.49″ optical format. Although not that huge compared to the 1/1.56″ on the Honor Magic4 Pro, the Samsung Galaxy S22, The Galaxy S22+ and the Oppo Find X5 Pro, it is still fairly large.
In addition, the Pixel size is about 1 micrometre but 2 micrometres when binning is activated. This is a notable feat from the camera sensor as most other sensors with this resolution offer get lower than the 1-micrometre mark. The first phone getting the Sony IMX800 is the Honor 70 series, however, the camera sensor is expected to be featured in camera-acquainted phones in the future.
