Redmi Note 8 has been around for nearly three years. It’s one of the most popular phones from the brand, having sold millions worldwide. Perhaps, Xiaomi decided to reward its buyers with Android 11 when it was initially believe to receive only a single OS upgrade (Android 10). And while users believed the Redmi Note 8 MIUI 13 update will be released soon, it seems Xiaomi has canceled all plans.
It will be three years next month since the Redmi Note 8 was announced. That means it’s only a few weeks before it reaches End Of Life, meaning it won’t receive updates again. That’s probably why the Redmi Note 8 MIUI 13 update won’t happen, as upgrading the device means extending the support period.
Initially, we believed that Xiaomi will upgrade the device to MIUI 13 after multiple internal Android 11-based MIUI 13 builds . According to Xiaomiui, the internal releases have been stopped after five months and 26 days. The last build was released internally on June 16, and there has been nothing since then, meaning plans to upgrade the device to MIUI 13 have been dropped.
The latest development also means the Redmi Note 8 Pro, Mi CC9, Mi CC9 Meitu Edition, Mi 9 SE, Redmi K20 / Mi 9T, Redmi K20 Pro / Mi 9T Pro, and Xiaomi Mi 9 series phones. Hence, if you’re using any of these phones and want to get the taste of MIUI 13, you might consider getting a newly released Xiaomi or Redmi phone.
