Android Auto has been getting a lot of updates in recent months. Speaking of the redesign which enables split screen mode, equipping one tap message replies while driving, and then the fixing of the S22 connection issues. Now, Google has disbursed the latest Android Auto update and it reportedly breaks wireless connection, according to some users.
What do we know as regards the latest Android Auto update which breaks wireless connection
The latest Android Auto update seeded by the Big G to some users introduced a few changes to their connections, particularly WiFi networks. According to a thread on the Google support forums, a lot of users complain that the Wifi icon has suddenly disappeared from their Android Auto.
This is quite unusual given the fact that Android Auto shows the various networks both cellular and WiFi it is connected to just like your phone. According to some users, they noticed the disappearance but their smartphones were still connected. The Android Auto makes use of the WiFi network with no issue if it’s generated from your smartphone or a mobile hotspot.
Meanwhile, not only is the disappearance of the WiFi icon a problem, but analyzing the changes from some users it seems the car is acting as a source(hotspot) as well. According to a report on Reddit which also took note of the update that breaks wireless connection, there was a fight for connection between the Android Auto wireless adapter and a mobile hotspot connected to Android Auto when placed side by side.
The report unveiled that on connecting with the hotspot, Android Auto won’t work and when it does mobile data is used. A Google support forum report also noted that the issue can be a result of the difference in the network since Android Auto makes use of 5GHz while mobile hotspots use 2.4GHz.
The culprit for the connection issues might just be the Android Auto 7.8 update and we don’t know if it’s all Auto users that are affected. Whichever way, we hope the Big G recognizes this issue as there is a possibility it’s present in future Android Auto updates since the brand hasn’t made an official announcement.
