Xiaomi has been distributing the Android 12-based MIUI 13 update for months now. The current iteration of MIUI debuted late last year, with over 80% of eligible devices running the build. There are also plans to upgrade a handful of phones waiting for the update, which is the case of the Redmi Note 9 4G / Redmi 9T Android 12.
The Redmi Note 9 4G debuted in China in November 2020 and arrived on the international market months later as Redmi 9T. It launched pre-installed with Android 10 and MIUI 12 but has been upgraded to Android 11 with MIUI 12.5. The duo is also eligible for the Android 12-based MIUI 13 update, and given the latest development, the rollout will commence soon.
Xiaomi suspended the Android 11-based MIUI internal version for the Redmi Note 9 4G two months ago to prepare for Android 12. It seems the testing has been completed as the first Redmi Note 9 4G / Redmi 9T Android 12-based MIUI 13 update is now ready.
The build has a version number MIUI 13.0.1.0 SJQCNXM, meaning it’s for Chinese models. We expect the rollout to commence in the coming weeks, followed by the global release. You should follow our Telegram group to know when the update starts rolling out.
