At long last, Google releases the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro – the much anticipated affordable flagships. We’ve new features like the next-gen Tensor, new camera hardware and software features, all for the same price tag, just wow. Let’s take a look at the premium feats integrated into the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro.

Google Pixel 7 series

Google releases the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro: what to expect

There are a few similarities between the two smartphones and also major differences. First off, we get the Tensor G2( a 4nm chip) powering the two smartphones. Although the Big G isn’t talking big about this chip, we expect the best features on the camera and AI algorithm on these smartphones. Then in camera, they both house a 10.8MP front camera shooter with a 50MP main camera sensor and 12MP ultrawide, however, the Pro version is getting an upgraded 48MP telephoto camera.

Now onto the display, Google releases the Pixel 7 with a 6.3-inch AMOLED display while the Pro stands at 6.7 inches. The regular Pixel 7 is equipped with a 90Hz screen refresh rate for a fluid display and the Pro gets a 120Hz screen refresh rate, an even more fluid display. Google claims there has been significant improvement in the brightness limit of this series – this means a quality outdoor experience.

The Face ID, a bone of contention on the Pixel 6 series is getting revamped on the Pixel 7 series. The Pixel 7 series Face ID is more of a software function than hardware, different from how it operates on the Pixel 4 series.

The duo get a good amount of battery life (4337 mAh on the Pixel 7 and 5000 mAh on the Pro) and together with the Tensor G2, we should be getting good battery efficiency, another bone of contention on the Pixel 6. Pixel 7 Pro supports 23W wired charging and 20W+ wireless charging support, the regular Pixel 7 has 21W wired charging and the same speed in wireless.

Google releases the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro

As regards software, Google releases the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro with the Android 13 out of the box, a software bearing a slew of features ranging from Material You Pallette to accessibility controls and a lot more. Not to mention the other camera features integrated into this smartphone. Furthermore, this lineup is set to receive up to 3 years of OS upgrades and 5 years of security patches, which is impressive from Google.

As mentioned earlier, the smartphones cost the same price as the Pixel 6 at launch and will be available in Obsidian, Lemongrass and Snow for the Pixel 7 and the Hazel colourway( instead of the Lemongrass colour option) for the Pro.
