When you unsend a message on Instagram, it is no longer visible to you or anybody else in the conversation. The unsend option works regardless of whether you are messaging a single individual or a group. You should keep in mind that Instagram may retain a record of your deleted messages.

Another consideration is that the recipient may have already seen your message. Even if you unsend a message, they may have already saved a copy of it through a screenshot or screen record. If you are sending messages that involve sensitive issues or information, it is ideal to think twice, if not thrice, before clicking the “Send” button. 

How To Unsend an Instagram Message

Unsending an Instagram message is pretty easy. Here are the steps to follow;

  • Launch the Instagram app on your iPhone or Android device. Check that you are logged in to your account.
  • Now, go ahead and tap on the airplane icon in the upper-right corner of your feed. It will show a list of all of your conversations.
  • Open a conversation and pick the message you want to delete.
  • Long-press the message and tap “Unsend.”

The message will vanish in an instant! There will also be no indications of an unsent message, such as an unsend transcript. You can no longer recover a message that has been unsent. You cannot unsend several messages at once on Instagram as there is no bulk unsend feature.
