Google’s latest flagship duo debuted with Gcam 8.7, which has been exclusive to select phones. It has some fascinating software features, such as High Res zoom, Long shot, and more. However, third-party Android phone users can now install the Gcam 8.7 mod to test these new features.
B.S.G became the first developer to release the Gcam 8.7 mod. This current version is based on V8.7.165, and weighs 365MB. It works only on Android phones running Android 11 and later. Unsurprisingly, there are no configuration options (Cfg, XML, Configs), and additional modules are not yet available.
Gcam 8.7 mod Changelog
The first release of the Google Camera modification 8.7.165.479933554.19 (the application may not work stably on some devices).
Added to settings: “Auto Night Sight” and “Activate HDRnet”.
Added “max” item to “Photo resolution” menu.
Aside from the new features, there have been some UI changes. The camera setting is now on the left (previously at the center), and the icon changes with the current mode. Also, the Material You design saw some improvements.
Meanwhile, the Gcam 8.7 seems like a work in progress. While the details in every shot are amazing, switching between modes seems sluggish. Hopefully, there’ll be some improvements in subsequent releases.
