Google has finally upgraded the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, bringing them up to the February 2023 security patch. The Google Pixel 4 series, which was introduced in 2019, has gotten three years of monthly Android security upgrades and Pixel-specific features, including the entire update to Android 13 last August. Google has always released one last update for top Pixel phones after the monthly upgrades have expired, and the Pixel 4 is no exception.
Google pushed out an update to Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL owners today, with the larger February 2023 update for existing Pixel phones, the first such update since October 2022. The update includes the February 2023 Android Security Bulletin’s security updates, but not much more.
According to the build number, which begins with “TP1A” rather than “TQ1A,” the latest Pixel 4 update does not include the changes of Android 13 QPR1, which was published in December. This last Pixel 4 update should be available through carriers immediately, but it can also be downloaded and installed directly.

- Pixel 4 XL: Android 13, TP1A.221005.002.B2, Feb 2023
The OTA updates and factory images can be accessed via the link at the end of the article. Following publication, Google verified to us that this is the final update for Pixel 4 owners. That means it’s time to say goodbye to a phone that dared to be distinctive with its Soli motion sensors – and the first Pixel phone to offer face unlock.
