While Android Auto is still putting out its major dashboard overhaul known as “Coolwalk redesign”, Google is already introducing changes such as new animations and the possibility of a light theme.
New animation in Android Auto’s Coolwalk redesign
Animations were one of the things Google gave that made the entire experience feel new, as we observed in our evaluation of the Android Auto dashboard upgrade. Everything was smoother and more enjoyable in general. However, the firm was not finished.
Shmykelsa, a Reddit user who has a history of enabling new Android Auto capabilities, demonstrated a change to “Coolwalk” that included a new animation while transitioning between music and navigation applications.
When the two experiences trade places on the “dashboard,” a new animation appears to be connected to Android Auto v8.9, which recently reached the beta channel. This takes the place of the previous animation, which fades to black before displaying the new app.
However, it appears that this animation is only shown on larger screens. On broad displays, the dashboard in “Coolwalk” only shows music applications with a smaller map off to the side, however on smaller screens, music apps can show to the side of maps or as the entire experience.
Meanwhile, to get the Coolwalk feature, you have to enrol on the beta program, although there are no longer spaces due to the rush when the feature was initially announced to be available. Probably, the feature will still be rolled out to users widely and everyone will get to use the Coolwalk.
