The latest Android Auto 9.0 stable update is now rolling out. Google is releasing the update through the Play store, but only a few users can download it at the moment. If the first phase of the rollout goes as planned, Google will release the update to more people in the coming days.
As usual, Google is rolling out the Android 9.0 stable update without a comprehensive changelog. It only mentioned optimizations and bug improvements, which is expected, as the company is still addressing some issues plaguing the app.
Also, the update has made some adjustments. This includes moving Google Maps closer to the driver while incorporating Material You into the Media app. Screen size can be adjusted to fit your Car display, and Google assistant has been optimized to make intelligent suggestions like missed calls and others.
While it is unclear currently if the latest update has enabled the Coolwalk feature for everyone, it’s expected to bring it to some. Google has been using server-controlled progress to release the redesigned UI. Hence, we recommend installing the latest update if you’re still waiting for the Coolwalk redesign.

As usual, Google is releasing the update in batches. It’s available in the Google Play store, while the APK is also available. You can access the latter using the links below. We recommend installing the APK as it bypasses some restrictions when you download via Play Store.
