Yet again, another leak for the next generation of Samsung Wearable, the Galaxy Watch 6. According to this leak, the Galaxy Watch 6 will be debuting with a bigger battery.
The Galaxy Watch 6 bigger battery
According to GalaxyClub.nl, South Korean regulators have approved two internal cells that would most likely be used by the next Galaxy Watch 6 wearables. We anticipate that two separate sizes will be supplied, as is customary. A 40mm basic model and a somewhat bigger 44mm wearable is available. According to the Dutch blog, the future wearables will have model numbers SM-R93x and SM-R94X.
Two batteries have been inspected by Korean officials. The codename for the smaller of the two is EB-BR935ABY, and the rather hazy photos indicate a 300mAh battery with an actual rated capacity of 295mAh. This is anticipated to be utilized in the future 40mm Galaxy Watch 6. By comparison, the 40mm Galaxy Watch 5 comes with a 284mAh battery, which is rated at 276mAh.
This indicates that the 40mm Galaxy Watch 6 might offer a significant improvement over its predecessor and, as a result, enhance the daily lifespan. A 10-20mAh increase may not appear to be a significant boost on paper, but it might equate to additional hours of usage each day.
The bigger EB-BR945ABY battery has a capacity of 425mAh, however, the rated capacity looks to be significantly lower at roughly 412mAh. This is also a little improvement over the 44mm Galaxy Watch 5, which has a 410mAh internal cell rated at 397mAh. Again, on a standard device, this appears to be an insignificant gain. Nevertheless, unlike smartphones, low-power gadgets such as wearables can see substantial longevity gains with seemingly insignificant battery upgrades. If these are the internal battery packs that will be utilized on the Galaxy Watch 6 series, we may see even greater advancements this year.
Another new rumor is that the Galaxy Watch 6 will get a design upgrade similar to the Pixel Watch, with curved glass. It’s unclear whether this would increase the footprint and allow larger internal cells to fit within the chassis. We hope to learn more in the coming months, as the Galaxy Watch 6 and perhaps 6 Pro are set to ship in late 2023 alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5.
