More and more leaks about the Google Pixel Tablet keep surfacing as we draw nearer to the supposed debut date. This time, the Google Pixel Tablet leaks talk about a charging stand and base.
Further details on the Google Pixel Tablet charging stand leaks
A fresh retail leak has emerged, revealing what appears to be the official stand for Google’s impending Pixel Tablet, branded by Google the “Charging Speaker Dock.” Whilst the design is not new to us, as it was introduced during the Made by Google event last year, we do get a clearer look at the stand from multiple angles thanks to this leak.
The leak, dubbed the “Pixel Tablet Stand” by @SnoopyTech on Twitter, reveals that the stand is strikingly similar to the support for a Nest Hub, with the tablet removed. The product name does not match what Google dubbed it at its hardware showcase, raising the issue of whether this is one of the two reported “stands” to be released – one for charging and one for both charging and syncing.
The two-stand notion was inspired by an APK analysis performed by 9to5Google, in which code was discovered referring to two separate accessory code names “Yuzu” and “Korlan.” The plug-style charging connector, as well as the pogo pins used to connect with the tablet, charge it, and keep it in place, can be seen in the leaked photographs. It is uncertain whether the tablet will feature a stand or charging base, or if it would be entirely optional.
According to reports, the Google Pixel Tablet will sport an 11-inch IPS LCD, a Tensor G2 engine, and 6GB of Memory. It is also said to include an 8-megapixel back camera as well as a front-facing camera.
It is likely to be a fantastic addition to the ecosystem when paired with the stand/charging base, and having a few of them strategically positioned around the house will be quite helpful for simple charging while in other areas. The tablet itself appears to be a promising product, and it will be intriguing to see what Google has in store for it as the company optimizes Android for better performance on larger screens.
