We know Google will launch the flagship Pixel 8 series phones later in the year, as the company does yearly. The same couldn’t be said of the Pixel Watch until recently, and it seems the Pixel Watch 2 will debut alongside the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.
The Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro have been on the news for months, and not for once did we hear anything about the next generation of Pixel Watch. A few tips have surfaced, tipping the Pixel Watch 2 to arrive later in the year. If we go with Google’s announcement history, we expect the launch in October 2023.
Although the Pixel Watch impressed, the company will look to improve on a couple of things when it releases the second generation. Users will expect a more efficient SoC, thinner bezels, improved battery, and more on the software side.
However, given how Google operates, some of these improvements might be a big ask. It’s unlikely to see a new design, but a new Chipset with better efficiency is necessary. That would not only improve the performance, but it will also ensure longer battery usage on a single charge.
We expect a lot of improvement and new features on the software side. Google has shown how good they’re with software improvements, and we might see overnight skin temperature and oxygen saturation (SpO2) stats in the metric dashboard. Also, the Fitbit Sense 2 and continuous Electrodermal Sensor (cEDA) sensors could be added.
We expect to learn more about the Pixel Watch 2 during the Google I/O event scheduled on May 10. The event will see the release of the Google Pixel Fold and Pixel 7a, with only details of the Google Watch 2 and Pixel 8 teased.
