Elon Musk is at it again with Twitter activities. There’s a newly introduced Twitter rate limit and by that we mean, Elon Musk, the owner and chairman of Twitter, stated on Saturday that, owing to “extreme levels of data scraping & system manipulation,” the social media network will begin restricting the number of posts each account can see in a single day.

Details on Twitter rate limit

On Saturday morning, Twitter users were taken aback when they started receiving notifications stating that they had exceeded the “Twitter rate limit” while updating their feeds and searching for content on the platform. Initially, there was speculation that this was a technical glitch, which Twitter has been known to experience since Elon Musk took the reins. However, Musk himself clarified in a post on Saturday that it was a deliberate temporary measure deployed to address specific concerns he had identified.

Under the new restrictions, verified accounts (including those subscribed to Twitter Blue) are currently limited to viewing 10,000 posts per day. Established unverified accounts, which comprise the majority of users on the platform, were limited to 1000 posts per day. For newly created unverified Twitter accounts, the limit was further reduced to 500 posts per day.

The implementation of these restrictions seemed to give preference to individuals who paid for Twitter’s premium services, as they could view a significantly higher number of tweets compared to those using the service for free. However, later in the day, when the move sparked outrage among users, Musk made a minor adjustment to the availability of posts.

The temporary Twitter rate limit was introduced as an attempt to address the concerns Musk had identified within the platform. While it aimed to strike a balance between the user experience and addressing potential issues, it also highlighted the disparities between paid and free users in terms of access to content.

As Twitter continues to evolve under Musk’s leadership, it remains to be seen how these twitter rate limits will impact the overall user experience and whether they will be adjusted further based on feedback and user reactions.
