Exciting news for Google and Nest WiFi users! It appears that Google is working on a new Nest WiFi model, as evidenced by references found in the latest update of the Google Home app. Let’s take a look at the details surrounding this development.
A new Nest WiFi?
Currently, Google offers the high-end Nest Wifi Pro router, which utilizes the latest Wi-Fi 6E technology to enhance mesh networking capabilities. However, the Nest Wifi Pro comes at a higher cost compared to earlier Google Wifi and Nest Wifi models. Additionally, unlike the original Nest Wifi, the new version does not include a Google Assistant speaker in the mesh points.
Despite the release of Nest Wifi Pro, Google seems determined to continue expanding the Nest Wifi range. The recent Google Home app update contains references to a new Nest Wifi model, codenamed “Breeza” or “Brezza” (likely a misreading of the Italian word for “breeze”). Another reference simply labels it as “BRZA” with the model number GS4VD.
The app treats the new model similarly to the current Nest Wifi Pro, but it’s not yet clear how Breeza/Brezza will differ from the existing Nest Wifi lineup. There’s no evidence suggesting an Assistant speaker will be integrated into this new model.
Google has previously re-released earlier routers at lower price points, as seen with the 2020 relaunch of the popular Google Wifi. It’s possible that the company plans to do the same with the Nest Wifi, allowing it to coexist in a mesh with Nest Wifi devices.
As we eagerly await further information, it’s likely that the new Nest Wifi will be introduced in the coming months. It might be released alongside the Pixel 8 series this autumn or as a standalone product early next year.
