According to Android Authority, the Pixel Watch 2 will support UWB (ultra-wideband), which could enhance the Digital Car Key experience by allowing users to unlock their vehicles without physically touching their phones. Additionally, UWB could enable proximity-based music transmission, where users can play music from their watch on a nearby tablet or speaker dock.
The Pixel Watch 2 will feature the same 1.2-inch 384 x 384 OLED screen as its predecessor, but it will now be sourced from Samsung Display instead of BOE. The design will be similar to the original Pixel Watch, maintaining band compatibility and possibly retaining the wider bezels for another year.
The watch is expected to launch with Android 13-based Wear OS 4, allowing for smooth upgrades with OTAs taking no longer than a standard device reset. The model numbers are reported to be G4TSL, GC3G8, and GD2WG. The Pixel Watch 2 will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5 processor and will have its own coprocessor.
In terms of battery life, the Pixel Watch 2 is listed to have a 306 mAh (typical) capacity, slightly larger than the current 294 mAh. With the always-on display (AOD) activated, Google expects the watch to last for more than a day of usage.
