Qualcomm has released a new processor under the Snapdragon 7 series. The new chip sits between the mid-range and premium SoC, and we expect to see phones with Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 in the coming days.

Qualcomm is yet to release the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2. They currently have the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2, and the newly released Snapdragon 7S Gen 2. Given the name, it’s probably a less capable SoC compared to the other two. Nevertheless, given the 4nm process, we expect some power efficiency and performance.
Qualcomm has designed the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 to support an FHD+ 144 Hz display, which will deliver desktop-quality images, coupled with an unspecified Adreno GPU. Of course, there’ll be a performance boost with the 2.4GHz performance cores and 1.95 GHz efficiency cores.
With most smartphone users going for the best camera phones, Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 phones will take decent shots with the Qualcomm Spectra 12-bit ISP. It supports a single camera up to 200MP and can shoot 4k @ 30 fps.
Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 phones will feature LPDDR5 RAM at 3200MHz. And with the Qualcomm X52 5G modem, phones with the processor will reach a peak Download speed of 2.9 Gbps. They will support the latest Wi-Fi generations: Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E. As expected, there’s no support for Wi-Fi 7, which is exclusive to premium SoCs.
Qualcomm AI Engine to help with daily tasks is integrated into the SD 7s Gen 2. Other features of the SoC include Bluetooth 5.2, USB 3.1, and Quick Charge 4+.
