Xiaomi has confirmed the imminent release of a new OS to replace MIUI. The Chinese company will debut the new Android skin alongside the Xiaomi 14 series phones, which will run the OS outside of the box, in an event scheduled this month in China. Details of the Xiaomi HyperOS have been limited, but the few already seen on the internet have confirmed we won’t see a UI overhaul. It looks like the company will be focusing on improving animations with HyperOS.
Over the years, Xiaomi has worked to improve the stability of MIUI, and with the release of MIUI 13, the company made a big progress. With MIUI 14, they resolved most issues affecting their in-house Android skin, but there have been questions about its animations. It seems the company has finally improved that, as the latest report tipped the Xiaomi HyperOS animations to be smoother than MIUI 14.
According to Ice Universe, “HyperOS animations are very smooth, much better than MIUI 14.” That does not come as a surprise, as the screenshot we have seen so far suggests the new OS is basically a change of name. It keeps MIUI design language with a few tweaks, making us believe the company might be focusing on improving animations.
Unfortunately, the tipster only compared the HyperOS animations with that of MIUI 14. It would have been easy to guess the level of improvement had it compared it with One UI or iOS animations. Nevertheless, we won’t wait long until Xiaomi 14 series debut with HyperOS to learn the improvements Xiaomi has made to its Android skin animations.
Xiaomi will debut HyperOS alongside Xiaomi 14 series phones later this month. We expect the event to happen on October 27, 2023, and hopefully, we will see the improvements made on animations. Also, we will learn when other phones will start getting the HyperOS update.
