Xiaomi has officially announced its latest operating system based on Android – HyperOS. The new OS is a name change as it keeps all MIUI design language with few tweaks and improvements. As expected, the official Xiaomi HyperOS roadmap has been revealed, with devices expected to start getting the new OS later in the year.
We were hoping to see the release of MIUI 15, but Xiaomi decided on a new name – HyperOS. The Chinese company has presented the new OS in China, with a Global release expected in the coming months. It seems the focus is on improving animations, as we have only seen a few additions.
There’s been a redesign of the control center notification panel and app redesign. Xiaomi seems to have copied iOS, but that’s not surprising. It would be interesting to see if the company has also copied the smooth animations of iOS, and if that’s the case, it would be a win. We won’t know for sure till Xiaomi starts rolling out the update to eligible users, and luckily, we won’t have to wait long.
The official Xiaomi HyperOS roadmap suggests the update will start rolling out next month. It seems the Xiaomi 14 series won’t run the new OS outside of the box, as it’s listed to receive the update first. Redmi K60 Extreme Edition and Xiaomi Pad 6 Max 14 will get the update after the initial release.

Xiaomi HyperOS for Global users
Xiaomi plans to start rolling out the HyperOS to global users by Q1 2024. However, since the Xiaomi 13 series will get the update in December, we will likely see the first release for global users in 2023. Xiaomi is known for not following its roadmap when it comes to a new iteration of Android skin release, and we expect that to continue. Hence, we expect the Global rollout to start this year, while the official announcement will come in 2024.
