Qualcomm has announced a new 7-series SoC as it continues to bring flagship performance to mid-range phones. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is built on a 4nm process, making it more efficient than the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 and Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 uses a 1+3+4 CPU arrangement. The single prime Kryo core runs at 2.63GHz while the 3 performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz. There are 4 efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz. These improvements have seen a 15% performance in the CPU, while there’s a 50% faster Adreno GPU performance compared to Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. Interestingly, power efficiency has been improved by 20%.
Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 phones will support up to 4K resolution display at 60Hz refresh rate or FHD+ resolution at 168Hz. The Qualcomm Hexagon NPU will handle AI tasks, which boosts 60% performance over the SD 7 Gen 1. Graphics will be handled by Andreno GPU with support for OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 FP, and Vulkan 1.3 APIs.
Camera performance on SD 7 Gen 3 phones will be down to Qualcomm Spectra ISP, which can support up to a primary 200MP and shoot 4K HDR video at 60Hz. As expected, the processor supports 5G, with the Snapdragon X63 5G Modem-RF. It can reach up to 5Gbps download speed over mmWave and sub-6 GHz bands. Of course, there’s support for Wi-Fi 6E, while the Bluetooth standard is capped at 5.3.
Other features of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 include Quick Charge 5, 3D Sonic sensor, and 3D Sonic sensor Max support for fingerprint. You can check for the full specification here.
