Xiaomi might have switched to HyperOS from MIUI, but most of the company’s phones are still running the latter. It will take time to release HyperOS for all eligible devices, and while we wait, MIUI 14 updates are being rolled out to improve system security.
While the Redmi Note 11S will receive the HyperOS update, the device is currently running MIUI 14. It received a new update a couple of days ago, which seems to have broken the location icon. According to the report, the location icon displays above the screen without the location turning on.
Perhaps turning on location in settings only triggers the location icon without enabling location. The issue is being analyzed with a new OTA update to start rolling out once the bug is fixed. Meanwhile, only Indian and Russian users running MIUI 14.0.5.0 TKEINXM and MIUI 14.0.5.0 TKDRUXM, respectively, are experiencing the issue.
It is unclear when Xiaomi will release an update to resolve the problem, but we expect a new update soon. You can follow our social media platforms to know when a new update starts rolling out for these regions with the location icon bug fix.
