Android Auto has reached a new milestone as Google starts pushing v12. Unfortunately, the release didn’t come with a changelog as one would expect. Perhaps, Google sees it as a regular update and no need for a release note, and it looks like it.
Android Auto 12 beta is currently on the beta channel, meaning stable users cannot install the update unless they decide to side-load it. With the beta testing ongoing, we would get information on new features rolling out with the update. So far, only previous changes are being released for more users.
The latest update brings Material You design, which automatically changes your UI based on your theme. Google has introduced a new toggle with a darker theme, which will switch based on your device configuration. As usual, the company is rolling out the latest additions in batches, and might take time to arrive.
There’s a new weather toggle in the phone settings. When enabled, the weather conditions will be shown on your screen depending on your device location. In addition, Notification with Assistant is coming for more people. It allows Google Assistant to read your message loud, and of course, you can disable it.
So far, it doesn’t seem Android 12 beta introduced any new changes. Google seems to bring already existing Android Auto features to more people. We recommend waiting for the stable build before jumping on the update, given the issues experienced with new Android Auto updates.

Google is rolling out the latest update via the Google Play store, but only beta testers can install it from there. You can side-load the APK version when you are down from here. After upgrading, you can uninstall the update and install a lower version if you encounter any problems.
