Samsung is probably the only smartphone company yet to start public testing of Android 15. With Google set to release the latest Android OS, Samsung might also announce the One UI 7 public beta release.
Google has released the Android 15 source code to AOSP, making it available for independent developers. OEMs, including Samsung, have had the code before the release to help them preview the update and integrate their Android skin. Of course, Samsung has been doing that but has yet to announce the public release.
One UI 7 public beta was expected in July, but that didn’t happen. It was believed to be due to the delay in rolling out the One UI 6.1.1 update, which is now widely available. In addition, Samsung needed time to address issues with the update as they wanted a smooth beta program for their next iteration of One UI. However, with a few weeks until Pixel phones start getting stable Android 15, you would expect Samsung to be rounding off the beta test, but that’s not the case.
Interestingly, it doesn’t seem like Samsung has fixed a date for the release, according to recent reports from Samsung Forum. Nevertheless, we believe the announcement will come next month. The Korean tech company has a Developer Conference scheduled for October 3. They will likely reveal plans for the Samsung One UI 7 public beta tests.
Before then, we expect the company to have finalized the One UI 6.1.1 release to focus on One UI 7. Also, we expect Pixel phones to be running stable Android 15, which might trigger Samsung to start rolling out the update, at least to beta testers.
Meanwhile, we understand Samsung has made massive improvements in the development of One UI 7. Some changes coming with the update have been spotted online, and from reports, it seems to be the “smoothest” One UI update yet.
