In the past few years, Samsung has been among the first to release a new Android OS upgrade. That didn’t happen with the current OS, and the company still doesn’t know when the update will start rolling out. However, the delay could mean an early release of the One UI 8.
Google is already testing the Android 16 build, expected to reach platform stability in March/April, with a possible release targeted for August. Samsung, of course, is testing the next major OS upgrade, which will be based on One UI 8. According to a new report, Samsung will deliver the upgrade in time.
What does One UI 8 coming early mean for Galaxy phone users
We are still waiting for the release of the One UI 7 stable build, still in the beta phase. The delay has resulted in the company skipping the planned One UI 7.1 release. Perhaps the company is moving to one major One UI update every year since Google now plans to deliver a new iteration of Android OS early.
According to ICE Universe, Samsung will release the One UI 8 earlier than expected. That could mean considering the time it has taken for the One UI 7 stable to be released. If that’s the case, then we expect the upgrade to arrive immediately after the official release by Google.
Otherwise, “sooner than expected” might mean considering that One UI 7 is yet to arrive for eligible users. That would mean seeing the update start rolling out later this year.
Google will probably release Android 16 stable to Pixel phones in August, which is in time for the Pixel 10 release. If that happens, Samsung might release the One UI 7 build with Android 16 by the end of the year. Either way, the update will come early with One UI 7 delays in mind.
