Xiaomi just released the stable Android 15-based HyperOS 2 update for its 2022 flagship phone. One would expect the Xiaomi 12 Lite, which arrived four months later, to receive the upgrade, but that is not planned.
Xiaomi 12 Lite debuted in July 2022, running Android 12. The phone runs Android 14 now, and sadly, that’s where the Android OS support ends. There are no plans for a new OS upgrade. However, a stable HyperOS 2 update might as well be in the cards.
Xiaomi 12 Lite Android 15 update plans
There are no plans to release a new OS update. According to the company’s software support page, Xiaomi 12 Lite is only eligible for two updates. Both have been delivered, and hence, there won’t be an Android 15 update.
The device will keep getting new updates every 90 days to improve performance and resolve security vulnerabilities. Also, HyperOS 2 will be released for the phone, but we do not have a time frame.
Sadly, that’s how things will continue moving forward for the Xiaomi 12 Lite users. The only way to get Android 15 is by installing a custom ROM. Perhaps you can grab the Xiaomi 15, which is eligible for four generations of Android OS.
