It has been three weeks since the first Android 11-based MIUI 12 update for Redmi Note 8 was released to global users. That was surprisingly followed by an Android 10 based update, hinting at the suspension of the Android 11 rollout. However, given the new development, it seems Xiaomi has restarted the Android 11 rollout for the global Redmi Note 8 users. The company is seeding a new Android 11-based MIUI 12 update for Redmi Note 8 to Mi Pilots.
The Mi Pilots remain the first set of people to receive new MIUI updates. But most times, those who are not part of the program receive updates at the first rollout. Hence, if you’re using the Redmi Note 8, you can check for the new update via the Updater App. And if the update hasn’t arrived yet, you should have patience for it to be available in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the new Android 11-based MIUI 12 update for Redmi Note 8 is seeding with a version number – MIUI 12.0.2.0 RCOMIXM. It brings a stable MIUI based on Android 11 and bumps the Android security patch level to increase system security and stability. That’s for those still waiting for the Android 11 update, otherwise, it will just bump the device patch level. And if it’s your device’s first upgrade, you should back up your data before installing the build.
Few bugs are affecting Xiaomi phones running the Android 11 build. Although you can fix most of it by performing a factory reset, the third-party launcher compatibility issue and the ugly square chat bubbles keep disturbing. But hopefully, the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition might be what’s needed to address it. Meanwhile, you should go ahead and fortify your device when the new update arrives.
