Google is rolling out a new update to its camera app to improve performance and address bugs. Usually, updates like this bring new features, but that doesn’t seem to be the case, as we didn’t spot any new additions. Perhaps, Google is improving on existing features and the app’s performance.
The last Google camera update before the current one brought some changes. It enabled a new zoom bar on the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, and it seems exclusive to those devices still. Also, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro got Fast Night Sight, but that is available for Pixel 7 series.
Meanwhile, the latest Google Camera update seems to improve the haptics of the app. When switching between options in the camera app, the haptics is much better than what they used to be before. The Material You design is looking much better, while performance has improved.
The new update has version number v8.8.224.529100705.13. It started seeding on May 16 through the Google Play store, and you can head over there to update the app. Of course, only Pixel users running Android 12 and later can install the update. Others can use the mod version, which is available for download here.
