“We want to make Photoshop more accessible and easier for more people to try out and experience the product,” says Maria Yap, Adobe’s VP of digital imaging. In a bid to attract more users to Adobe Photoshop, the company has decided to release a version that is free on the web with some cool features.
Adobe makes use of the word “freemium” based on the fact that a lot of users will get amazing tools, although, in the long run, the company will leave out some features to paying subscribers. However, enough tools will be provided to perform Photoshop core functions, Adobe says.
Adobe Photoshop is free on the web right now for Canadian users and we hope gradually, it will get to more regions. Earlier, around October last year precisely, the web version of Adobe Photoshop was made available with the basic tools needed for editing already provided. However compared to the app, it’s very few because the app offers a lot more features.
Since the web didn’t have as many features as the app, the company tagged it a collaboration tool where artists can share an image with others who will in turn add tweaks to it, then return it.
What are artists getting as Adobe Photoshop is free on the web
Maria Yap also mentioned that artists don’t need a high-end machine to come into Photoshop. The company is offering amazing tools like the refine edge, curves, doge, and burn tools alongside the ability to convert Smart Object to help in photoshop.
Making its way to Photoshop(Adobe) soon is a new AI-powered filter as it is being reviewed by the company. This feature, together with the already available color filter, offers the ability to transform old pictures into something magical using a new photo restoration filter which also cleans up scratches and restores color.
