Android 10 for Mi 8 starts arriving

A few days after Xiaomi released the Android 10 update to Redmi K20/ Mi 9T, they’ve now released Android 10 for Mi 8. The Xiaomi Mi 8 was the company’s flagship device of 2018, which debuted running Android 8.1. However, the device has since updated to Android 9 (Pie), and it’s currently receiving a new stable update.

The update is hitting the Global variant of the device, arriving with a build number MIUI 11.0.1.0 QEAMIXM. It’s a stable update and weighs about 1.9.

Interestingly, it comes along with the much anticipated new Android OS – Android 10. There are some fixes and optimization that came along with the update. Also, the Security Patch level got an update and now dates 01-12-2019.

Among all the fix and system optimization, Xiaomi MI 8 users will mostly welcome the new Operating system after the long wait. And since the update has the same Changelog with the MIUI 11.0.1.0 update that was sent to Redmi K20, users will experience these new features when shooting short videos. The override dark mode, smooth animation, smooth video recording, and improved battery life are some of the features that didn’t appear on the changelog.

Meanwhile, the update is currently being rolled out to Mi pilots and limited users. But you can still check for the update by navigating to your device updater app. Go to Settings> My Device> MIUI version to scan for new updates.

To accelerate the arrival of the update, you can turn on Receive Update Early on your updater app setting. Click the three dots at the top right corner, and tmake the changes from there.
