Stable Android 11-based MIUI 12 update for Redmi Note 9 arrives for units in Europe
The wait is finally over as Xiaomi starts pushing a stable Android 11-based MIUI 12 update for Redmi Note 9. That was expected after a similar update arrived for the Redmi 10X 4G, which is the Chinese version of the device. The update arrived a couple of days ago, while the global users are just receiving it for the first time. However, it’s a limited rollout and will only be made available for select users.
Xiaomi has started rolling out the stable Android 11-based MIUI 12 update for Redmi Note 9, but it is not available for everyone yet. According to reports, only Mi Pilots will receive the update for preview, and if, in the end, everything goes smoothly, the public rollout will start almost immediately. Hence, you’ll have to wait for a couple of days before the OTA arrives on your device.
Meanwhile, only the global version of the update has been released. We anticipate a wider rollout in the coming days that’ll see the rollout extend to other regions. It becomes necessary to update the current Redmi Note 9 update to fortify your device ahead of the planned upgrade to Android 11.
The Android 11 build comes as MIUI 12.0.1.0 RJOMIXM. It brings along a stable MIUI based on Android 11 and all the features baked inside the Android OS. However, before upgrading your device, we recommend a backup of your data in a situation factory reset becomes necessary after the cross-section Android upgrade.
That said, don’t forget to keep an eye on our tracker for when the public will start getting the update. Again, you’ll get a notification when it arrives in your region.
