Xiaomi has their attention on the MIUI 12.5 and Android 11 deployment. So far, a good number of eligible phones have already received the update, while it keeps seeding for more units. The Redmi Note 9 received the Android 11 update globally a couple of weeks ago and was quickly followed by a release in Russia. As expected, the update has now been released for the European models, but as usual, it is currently a limited rollout.
The Android 11 update for Redmi Note 9 in Europe is seeding for Mi Pilots (Beta testers). They’ll preview the build for bugs, and it’s going to last for a few days. In the end, if there’s no bug detected, the public rollout will commence almost immediately. Although the stable MIUI 12.0.1.0 RJOEUXM is available for download, we recommend that you wait for feedback before upgrading. However, you can back up your data and then upgrade manually in a situation a factory reset becomes necessary after the upgrading.
Going by feedback, most bugs introduced by the Android 11 update are fixed after performing a factory reset. Unfortunately, that won’t address the third-party launcher compatibility issue and ugly square chat bubbles. Also, there is a situation where the keyboard overlaps with floating windows. Of course, these are known issues, and hopefully, the company rolls out a fix in the coming days.
As for the MIUI 12.5 update, that’ll come later as expected. You should follow our tracker page to know when the update arrives in your region. And given the momentum at which Xiaomi is rolling out the update, it will arrive in the coming weeks.
