The Redmi Note 9 4G first arrived in China in November 2020, pre-installed with Android 10 and MIUI 12. It was launched in the international market a couple of months after as Redmi 9T with the same software. The duo is currently running Android 11 on top of MIUI 12.5, and it looks like Android 12 for the Redmi Note 9 4G / Redmi 9T will start seeding soon.
Xiaomi has been testing Android 12 for the Redmi Note 9 4G / Redmi 9T internally, and it seems the build will soon reach stable users. The latest MIUI 13 V22.5.16 Closed beta release Note, shows Xiaomi will suspend all testing for the Redmi Note 9 4G based on Android 11 as it prepares to start rolling out Android 12 builds.
The suspension will start on May 23, and hopefully, it restarts in a few weeks. If everything goes as planned, the next update for the Redmi Note 9 4G will be based on Android 12. It’ll arrive for Closed beta testers before making it to stable users. Unfortunately, it will take weeks before the update starts seeding, but we are optimistic it will be in the coming weeks.
We will be following up to let you know when the device starts getting the update in the coming weeks. Perhaps, you should follow us on Telegram to know when it becomes available for everyone.
