Google is expected to roll out the stable Android 14 update next month, with the Beta 4 update now available. The latest update is a follow-up to last month’s release, as the company continues to refine the build ahead of the public release.
The stable Android 14 update will arrive on Pixel phones next month, and with the Beta 4 update, Google continues to polish and improve the build.
Today we’re bringing you Android 14 Beta 4, continuing our work on polish and performance as we get closer to the general availability release of Android 14. Beta 4 is available for Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold, in addition to the rest of the supported Pixel family, so you can test your applications on devices spanning multiple form factors and directly experience the work we’re doing to improve the large-screen and foldable device experience.
Meanwhile, Android 14 beta 4 is exclusive to beta testers. It comes with the July 2023 security patch and improvements. If you’re a registered beta tester using any of the Google Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6, Pixel 6a, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, and Pixel 4a 5G, you will get an OTA. Interestingly, the build is available for Google Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, and of course, Android Emulator.
If you encounter any problem after installing Android 14 beta 4, you should report the bug using the Android Beta Feedback app on Pixel phones. You can also use the Android Beta community on Reddit to report any bug.
However, we don’t expect many bugs, given the platform stability achieved with last month’s release. Android 14 beta 4 is considered a near-final build, according to Google:
With Beta 4, 5, and other final beta releases, we’ll offer release candidate builds for your final testing. When you’ve finished testing, you should release compatible updates for your apps, SDKs, libraries, tools, and game engines to ensure that users who upgrade their devices around the final release have a good user experience.
