Google has released latest Android OS, but you will not get the update just yet. The tech company is only pushing the source code to Android Open Source Project to open the door for individual developers to start developing their AOSP based Android 15.
We reported last week that Google will release Android 15 to AOSP today. As expected, the update is now Ava, meaning we will start seeing Android 15-based AOSP builds in the coming days. We are likely to see LineageOS, GrapheneOS, to jump on this in the coming weeks.
If you are wondering about smartphone makers, they already had pre-release access to the Android 15 source code. Companies like Samsung, Xiaomi, Nothing, OnePlus, Oppo, Sony, and others are already integrating their in-house OS to new operating system which could start rolling out to their eligible phones in the coming weeks.
Xiaomi is said to release a stable Android 15-based HyperOS update in October, at the same time Google Pixels owners are expecting the upgrade. It’s now clear when they can release the update at the same time as Google.
What’s coming with the Android 15 update
Android 15 does not bring visual overhaul as it prioritizes improvements and bug fixes. Of course, there are new introductions like Private Space, which allows users to create a different profile to hide apps. Perhaps for developers, there is a screen recording detection API, predictive back gesture, changes to background activity launches. You can check other features and things to expect in the source link.
