Google has started rolling out the Android 16 Beta 3.1 update, a minor follow-up to the previous beta build aimed at fixing reported bugs and enhancing system performance.

This update comes just days after the release of Beta 3, addressing key issues while improving overall stability. The update, identified by build number BP22.250221.013, also includes the March 2025 security patch for added protection.

- Fixed an issue that caused the system Settings app to crash repeatedly on launch if the system language was set to a language other than English. (Issue #403303683)
- Fixed an issue that caused the screen brightness to oscillate between an app-specified brightness setting and the automatic, system-specified or user-specified brightness settings. (Issue #392522561)
- Fixed a performance issue that was causing excessive battery drain from high CPU load.
- Fixed a performance issue that sometimes caused memory leaks in the system server

Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
As expected, the update is only available for eligible Pixel devices. To install it:
- Open Settings
- Go to System > Software updates > System update
- Tap System update and follow the on-screen instructions
The update is relatively small, with a 6.70MB download size on the Pixel 9, meaning it should install quickly.
