There have been reports on Android Auto about issues affecting the app. Google keeps rolling out new updates every few days, but instead of addressing existing problems, it introduces new ones. The issue that has remained unfixed, however, is the freezing bug.
Since the CoolWalk redesign rolled out, Google has released many updates to Android Auto to address issues. It seems they will never address the issue that sees the lower part of the screen freeze when launching Google Maps, and hence, leaving the Taskbar unresponsive, which makes it hard to switch between apps.
There are also reports of degraded sound quality after initiating voice assistance or making phone calls. The issue started after an Android Auto update, but Google says they won’t be fixing it as units affected are using “a pirate product” and marked the problem “infeasible.”
Of course, these are not the only bugs affecting Android Auto. And while a new update arrives to address them, most times, they don’t do much. That seems to be the case with Android Auto 10.4 update, which doesn’t come with a changelog. However, it optimizes performance and resolves issues.
Meanwhile, we recommend installing Android Auto 10.4 stable update to improve your app performance. Also, Google is still releasing some features to more users, like the Google Assistant Glow and others. These features come in batches and might be in the latest update for some people.
